THE MAUVE VAN
THE MAUVE VAN IS A HOMAGE TO MY GRANDMOTHER AND MOTHER. FOR INSPIRING ME TO BE THE MOST LADY LIKE WOMAN I CAN BE, |
I remember going to my Grandmother's house and looking at all her old pictures. I saw how classy she was dressed. Given all the photos were from the 50's and 60's and it was a more conservative time, without saying anything my Grandmother made me feel like dressing in a lady like way was - for lack of a better word - superior. This along with my Mother's great taste in clothes, was a huge influence on my style and understanding of clothing. They helped me realized the power behind clothing. They gave my style and I want to celebrate that.

This is THE MAUVE VAN. I've called it this as a sort of Homage to my grandmother. My grandmother doesn't say purple she says "Mauve" which is a light shade of purple but not purple. She also doesn't say car or "bukkie" she says van. I'm not sure why my brother and I always find it so funny when she uses these words but whenever she says them we cannot help but burst out into laughter. My Grandmother is such a good sport she never gets upset, she laughs along with us and continues her sentence as if nothing is wrong. My Mother never allowed me to wear tights, shorts, crop tops or any garment that she believed showed too much skin. I genuinely dislike my parents for this because I could never dress the way my friends were dressing. But then it occurred to me, with the help of IG quotes.
If you feel like you're always attracting the same type of guy or you feel like when you go out with your friends you're never noticed, think about the way you're dressed. Remember that elegance and class is not about being noticed it's about being remembered and that seeking attention through what you wear will never last as long, as seeking respect.
