There’s not much that can compare to working with a group of people so steadily on the same train of thought as you that you feel as though you never want get off. The comradely of working with creatives at the same pace as you is an indescribable feeling. In first world countries I’m sure you’d find creatives and people who understand the basic elements and principals of art and aesthetic but in developing countries like South Africa such people are a rare find.

Relatively rare. Its easy to find yourself in the company of rich kids and industry people who are well versed in throwing out fashion terms and superficially popping in artful phrases. But it is truly rare to find yourself within a group of people who can see into more than the ‘clout' of an idea. So believe me when I say my spirit was enriched the day we shoot this. A few photographers, some models, a MUA, a stylist and myself decided to simply go somewhere and shoot what ever

we could with what we had available. The results being the pics before you now. The beautiful thing about photography that i think gets fadded into the abyss, is the beauty of perspective. You could have the exact same scene with 3 different photographers but each one will come out with a set of images that are completely different. In each one you'll see a different tone and emotion, many times working in conjunction with the personality of the shooter.

This version was my favourite and while I was hesitant about putting green eyeshadow on our greek god-looking-like male model, I've come to love it and will most probably convince my husband(if we ever get there) to try a little shadow on his lips at some point. Our female model (Celine) was as flawless in real life as she was on camera. Possibly the most motivating and simultaneously aggravating thing about working in fashion is 'hanging' out with this small percent of humans who are physically flawless to a point of constant disbelief. Whilst I kept pinching Celine every now and then to see if she was real, she threw herself at the camera unfazed by my bewilderment of her very existence. All the while I was doing my job as creative director shouting things like "Give me your inner Sunglass Hut" and "be that couple who both narcissists dating each other, the one where each person loves them self more than the other but they're still together...". They did a beautiful job in charming the camera into interpreting my direction, I will be coming up with more flattering yet outrageous way to direct models.
