Millian In Gucci
Even though I was sitting at a desk listening to why Coriolanus is an admirably capable general whose arrogance, which is the very thing that makes him great, is the exact trait that brings his downfall. *Hey Kanye where you at #HintHint. In my mind I was Strutting around Millian in this placid, pink and silk silhouette that to me flows with the same elegant effect that smoke from a burning bridge flares.
Alessandro Michele (The creative director of Gucci) has been reviving or rather hyping, the way my friends hype each others mix tapes, this sense of classic Victorian, British and Punk eclecticism. Whilst their Resort 2017 Collection saw 97 looks that I felt were inaccessibly extravagant there were a few looks coupled with their ready-to-wear that's been crowding social media that have inspired a new appreciation for embroidery and more classic silhouettes. |
And Viola! Out of this newfound inspiration comes this trendy pink and silk motivated look. Featuring a Chinese collar and the latest "my pants are actually too short but now it's fashionable to expose my ankles so let's roll with it" trend. And my neighbors door. As we were walking out the door to shoot this my Mother asked me if I'm wearing my pajamas and I contortedly looked in the mirror and realized that this may in fact actually be pajamas. I found this in the abyss that is her closet so who really knows. But I've come to like the oh so French pajamas as outer wear style and if it works it works.

Out of the 97 looks From Gucci's Resort 2017 Collection here's the ones I thought were worth the RAM.
If you didn't already know I absolutely love suits and the shiny patterned texture in this look just brought out my inner Indian. Although it borders on looking like you stole your Mother's foil wrap and you're running around ready to sit in the sun and have bacon laid on one pant leg so you can have sun toasted bacon, I actually just like the straight cut of the silhouette. I don't particularity like the mass of what can be perceived as flowers choking the model whilst trying to look like an over dramatic choker but the use of black to make up the lapel (The piece of the collar on the blazer that's black and kind of triangle shaped) creates a great contrast. Without the contrast of the black I don't I would favor this look at all. I though this look stood out because I would wear this, without hesitation.
Looking at this now I'm not sure why I saved this look. . .If it comes to me I'll come back and explain what potential I saw in this but perhaps my exhaustion is stopping me for seeing the genius in this piece.

I enjoyed the bright colour(s) and low key oriental patterns used to fill the silhouette. It was an enjoyable break from the continuous black that wasn't particularly out of place or uncalled for but the eclecticism of the British reminiscent collar and basically the whole top half of the garment in conjunction with the patterns, colour and silky texture made this this look stand out and would maybe be something I would wear. Also it has long sleeves and I am Long Sleeve's Biggest fan be it winter, summer or a beach vacation.
Let's start with the shoes because that's always a good idea. Mixed emotions on the reals. I high key like them but I'm not sure why. They defy all general sensibilities and perhaps I don't like them simply because I know they'll only be in trend for as long as Allesandro Michelle can keep us believing in his mixed ancient European meets modernity vision. Perhaps I just like them because they're gold. Otherwise I love everything about this look except the earnings. They are simply too damm much. And perhaps everything else is as well but I like it the way I like KFC'S dunked wings, even though too many people think too many different things about it. I'm not sure I'd actually wear this (except for the shoes which would be on my feet before you could finish offering them to me. . ). I'd have to see how it fits on my body and what I'd pair it with but TBH I highly doubt I'd wear even still. That's the thing about fashion it's an art. A garment or a look is like a painting, you don't have to be able to wear it to appreciate it. #DontGetItTwsited
