During the last episode of my podcast *The Color Of Truth* I interviewed one of my good friends Tanisha Coetzee and halfway through I asked her if there are any artists she's currently feeling and after a short debate about phonetics we ended up with 6-BLACK. There doesn't seem to be any deep philosophical or Tumblr-able meaning behind it but I've delegated myself to figure out what it really means. My best bet is that, he's so black he's not JUST black he's 6x black. This logic didn't pass with my guest or anyone else from the Podcasts team. No fault of their own since I only believed it as much as Donal Trump believes in Global Warming.

It seems that in our overly cluttered, media centric blossoming but also possibly decaying society, we tend to over exaggerate things for our own entertainment to such an extent that there is no way to express an actual increased emotion. How many times have you texted someone LMAO when something was mildly funny and then had to send 1000 laughing faces when something was ACTUALLY LMAO-worthy.
I am a serial exagerator, exaggerating everything from the pasty weather outside to the pastyness of my skin. A neat trick that I quickly learnt earns cheep laughs and small affirmations. It dawns on the that it is |
not the nature of everyone in my age pool but looking at the place of the word 'literally' in our vocabulary literally speaks volumes for my case. - I hope you got that. The arbitrary reason for me taking of this is that I tried to apply this idea of an over exaggerated society into cloth. This look is not a representation of it, this look is simply a communication of summer. Bright, young, fun but also unexpectedly fiery. Comments and ideas like over exaggeration tend to be overlooked in fashion. If I were to make a piece that justly represents this idea would you look at it and deconstruct the message or would you see an oversized blazer and think "wow that's a huge blazer"...

Is refined messages lost for those who don't know to even look for them. Even though I am a reasonably seasoned fashion person I still look at this likes of Viktor&Rolf, Iris Van Herpen, Comme De Garcons, and Issey Miyake and wonder what they were thinking and what are they trying to tell me. I know to look for something but sometimes the concept and question is completely lost on me. Sometime it seems to be like searching for the meaning of life in church. Everyone else looks like they get it whilst you're standing there wondering what the meaning of life really is and how they figured it out, meanwhile they don't really have any answers everyone is just 'going with the flow'. The solution to this- I don't have. But at least someone else is thinking about this and that's all that's just about all the certainty that we're guaranteed.
