Khosi Nkosi opened Fashion week and whilst I wasn't able to attend #MatricIsReal I've heard that she did not disappoint. The show started with flashing lights and music of that was nothing less than the epitome of dramatic. I reviewed the collection and these were the pieces that I thought made the most sense and was aesthetically pleasing.
For those of you who didn't know Khomotjo Malatji is the designer behind the brand. I was surprised to see see such bold and bright colors in a Fashion Week that falls before the winter. Most designers tend to lean towards more neutral, dark colors but in this collection it feels as though Malatji is saying that winter should and can be just as vibrant as summer. While I remain indifferent about the proposition I did enjoy the silhouettes that she created, especially the capes. I love capes. I love the superhero feeling and Malatji incorporated mid length capes into many of her garments.
Now there isn't a look here that I love like I'm loving KFC's dunked wings right now but if I had to chose one look form the collection that I would take home it would be the blue caped suit. The sheer used to create the shirt on the inside sort of adds a sense of seduction and this coupled with the power and chicness of the mid length cape makes this a look I would wear - on a date.
